Interfaith Dialogue الحوار بين الأديان

Common ground, mutual respect, honest differences.

"Say: O People of the Book, come to a common word between us and you — that we worship none but Allah." — Quran 3:64

People of the Book

Ahl al-Kitab

Islam uniquely recognises Christians and Jews as "People of the Book" — communities who received earlier divine revelations. The Quran affirms that the Torah and Gospel were genuine revelations from Allah, and that their prophets are our prophets. Muslims are permitted to eat their food and marry from their communities.

"Do not argue with the People of the Book except in the best manner." — Quran 29:46

What Islam Affirms Uniquely

Pure Tawhid

Absolute monotheism without Trinity, incarnation, or divine intermediaries. Allah is One, without partners, children, or equals. This is non-negotiable.

Final Revelation

The Quran is the final, preserved, unchanged word of God. Previous scriptures were genuine but have been altered over time. The Quran came to confirm and correct.

Seal of the Prophets

Muhammad (PBUH) is the last messenger. No prophet comes after him. His message is universal — for all of humanity, not one nation.

Principles of Dialogue

1No compulsion in religion — "There is no compulsion in religion. Truth stands clear from error." (Quran 2:256)
2Compete in goodness — "For each We have made a law and a method. Had Allah willed, He would have made you one nation, but He tests you in what He has given you. So compete in goodness." (Quran 5:48)
3Speak with wisdom — "Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best." (Quran 16:125)
4Respect differences — "For you is your religion, and for me is my religion." (Quran 109:6)
5Find common ground first — Start with what unites, then discuss differences with honesty and respect.
